What’s it like to be a Conservation Geneticist?

Before I got to university, I didn’t have a clue about what scientists do on a daily basis. I didn’t have role models outside those highly stereotyped media portrayals of scientists as either MAD or absent-minded. I’m trying to change that for future generations of STEM professionals. Listen in to my recent guest appearance on the Avid Research podcast where I chat with host Amelia Travers about my career path to becoming a Conservation Geneticist! We talked about my graduate work providing genetic data to the endangered Sonoran pronghorn management team as well as my current work extracting genomes and epigenomes from specimens at the Australian National Wildlife Collection.
